A new exhibit that celebrates aging through art, stories, and education is opening this week at the Brick City Center for the Arts.
The ‘Art of Aging’ exhibit, which is a collaborative effort of Marion Cultural Alliance and Marion Senior Services, features photographs, poetry, and paintings by 37 MCA member artists who are over the age of 55.
Oversized photographs that showcase some of Marion Senior Service’s clients, by local photographer Ralph Demilio, are the centerpiece of the exhibit.
On Friday, August 5, the exhibit will begin with an opening reception at MCA’s Brick City Center for the Arts (23 SW Broadway Street) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The reception will include complimentary light refreshments, and guests will have the opportunity to meet the participating artists.
The exhibit will remain on display through Saturday, August 27.
Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public. The gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
