Ocala Fire Rescue responds to separate I-75, SW Ocala crashes

Ocala Fire Rescue responded to the scenes of two separate vehicle accidents on Wednesday evening that occurred less than an hour apart.

Shortly before 7:20 p.m., OFR crews responded to reports of a crash on Interstate 75. As the units made their way to the scene, they were directed to the overpass of exit 352.

Upon arrival, crew members observed a tractor-trailer and two additional vehicles – one of which was on its roof.

OFR units consisting of Engine 1, Rescue 1, Tower 1, and Battalion Chief 11 secured the scene and checked the driver of the overturned vehicle for injuries. Additional units (Engine 4 and a Safety Officer) assessed the drivers of the two other vehicles involved.

No injuries were reported.

Less than an hour later, shortly before 8 p.m., OFR units responded to reports of another crash that had occurred at the intersection of SW 19th Avenue Road and SW 27th Avenue. Crews arrived at the intersection and observed two vehicles that were involved in a head-on collision.

According to OFR, three people sustained injuries in the accident and were transported to a local hospital.

The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.

Ocala Fire Rescue is reminding drivers to slow down, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and stay focused on the road at all times – especially when driving in the rain.
