One person was extricated following a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Sunday evening in Ocala.
On Sunday, August 28, shortly after 11:40 p.m., multiple Ocala Fire Rescue units responded to the intersection of SW 3rd Place and SW 27th Avenue due to reports of a vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, the units consisting of Engine 1, Rescue 1, Tower 1, and Battalion Chief 11 observed a collision involving a white truck and white sports utility vehicle. According to OFR, the truck had moderate damage on the rear passenger side, and the SUV had sustained heavy front-end damage.
The scene was secured by OFR crew members. Tower 1 assisted Engine 1 in preparing for an extrication of the SUV’s driver and Rescue 1 assessed the driver’s status.
Engine 1 crew members used cutters to remove the SUV’s driver’s side door. After gaining access, crew members used spreaders to free the driver’s legs from the dashboard that was resting on the driver’s lap.
Once the extrication was completed, the driver was moved onto a stretcher and transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
There were no other injuries reported.
The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
