Elderly Bronson man killed after SUV collides with box truck in Levy County

An elderly man from Bronson was killed on Tuesday morning after his sports utility vehicle collided with a box truck on U.S. 27 Alternate in Levy County.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., a 61-year-old High Springs man was traveling northbound in a Freightliner box truck on County Road 347, near the U.S. 27 Alternate intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

At the same time, a Buick SUV being driven by a 71-year-old Bronson man was traveling northbound on U.S. 27 Alternate.

The FHP report states that the box truck traveled into the intersection and in front of the SUV. The box truck and SUV proceeded to collide at the intersection.

The SUV’s driver and sole occupant succumbed to his injuries, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver and sole occupant of the box truck was in serious condition following the accident.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, no further information is available at this time. The names of both drivers were not released by FHP.
