Inaugural ‘Soggy Doggy Swim’ event heads to Jervey Gantt Aquatic Fun Center

The Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host a swimming event for dogs at the Jervey Gantt Aquatic Fun Center this Saturday.

The inaugural Soggy Doggy Swim event will take place on Saturday, November 5 at the Jervey Gantt Aquatic Fun Center, which is located at 2390 SE 36th Avenue.

During the event, there will be two swim sessions to accommodate dogs of different sizes. The first session will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for dogs that are less than 21 inches tall. The second and final session will take place from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for dogs that are taller than 21 inches.

Both sessions will be limited to the first 50 dogs per size, and owners must show proof of rabies, DHLP, and Bordetella vaccinations. All participating dogs must wear collars and tags while at the pool.

By order of the Marion County Health Department, owners will not be permitted to enter the water at any time.

There is a $10 cost per dog, which will be paid onsite, and there is a limit of one dog per owner.

Concessions will be available with a variety of snack and refreshment options. No outside food or drink will be allowed.
