Two drivers were hospitalized on Monday evening after their vehicles collided on E Fort King Street in Ocala.
Shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday, Ocala Fire Rescue units consisting of Engine 5, Rescue 5, Rescue 2, Battalionee Chief 22, and a safety officer were dispatched to the accident scene after receiving reports of a vehicle fire near the intersection of E Fort King Street and NE 31st Avenue, according to a social media post from OFR.
Upon arrival, crews observed a two-vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment. According to OFR, neither vehicle was on fire.
OFR stated that one of the vehicles involved, a Toyota, was upright with an ambulatory driver. The second vehicle, a Nissan, was resting on its side with the driver trapped inside.
The Nissan was stabilized by firefighters, and the windshield was removed to help gain access to the driver. After being extricated, the driver was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation.
The driver of the Toyota was also transported to a local hospital.
The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded to the scene of the accident.
The names of the drivers involved in the crash were not released by Ocala Fire Rescue.
