Marion Cultural Alliance seeks artists for ‘UpCycled: Turning Waste into Wonder’ exhibit

The Marion Cultural Alliance is inviting local and regional artists to create artwork from repurposed, recycled, and found objects and materials for an upcoming exhibit.

“UpCycled: Turning Waste into Wonder” will be on display at the Brick City Center for the Arts (23 SW Broadway Street in Ocala) beginning on Friday, April 7 through Saturday, April 29.

Upcycling, which is also known as creative reuse, is a form of recycling that gives new life and function to objects, often transforming waste materials and unwanted products into something new with greater quality.

MCA encourages artists to submit entries for the April exhibit that upcycle and re-imagine different types of materials to create visually satisfying and thought-provoking works of art. There is no restriction in medium type, theme, or style, though each created piece must incorporate or portray materials that are reusable, repurposed, recycled, and/or reclaimed.

To be eligible, all participating artists must be active MCA artist members, and the deadline to submit entries for the “UpCycled” exhibit is at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 26.

For more information on entry guidelines and exhibit requirements, visit the Marion Cultural Alliance ‘Calls to Artists’ webpage.
