A golf cart driver was hospitalized on Saturday afternoon following a crash with rollover on an embankment located on the south side of SW 10th Street in Ocala.
At approximately 2 p.m., Ocala Fire Rescue units consisting of Engine 1, Rescue 1, Squad 7, and Battalion Chiefs 11 and 22 were dispatched to the embankment after receiving reports of a vehicle accident with injuries.

Upon arrival, OFR crews observed a golf cart on its side with the sole occupant entrapped underneath. Crew members from Engine 1, Rescue 1, and Squad 7 secured the vehicle and prepared to begin extrication while Marion County Fire Rescue’s Medic 63 unit tended to the driver.

According to OFR, crews stabilized the golf cart using rescue ropes with specialized knots for secure weight distribution. Engine 1’s crews used a high-lift jack to lift the front of the golf cart, which freed the driver. Cutters were then utilized to remove the steering wheel and column, and the driver was extricated.

Crew members from OFR Rescue 1 and MCFR Medic 63 prepared to transfer the driver to road level while Engine 1’s crews set up a stokes basket to haul the driver up the embankment. With the help of a winch, the driver reached the sidewalk and was moved from the stokes basket to a stretcher.
The driver was trauma alerted to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. There were no other injuries reported.
The Ocala Police Department also responded to the scene of the accident.
The name, age, and gender of the driver was not released by Ocala Fire Rescue.
