Ocala firefighters responded to a local business on Thursday afternoon after receiving reports of a vehicle fire in the parking lot.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m., multiple Ocala Fire Rescue units responded to Cummins Sales and Service located at 321 SW 52nd Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters observed an RV that was filled with smoke, and flames were visible in a battery compartment.

Firefighters utilized a pre-connected hose to combat the flames. According to OFR, crews proceeded to enter the RV and encountered high heat and low visibility, which indicated that the fire continued to burn “outside plain view.”

OFR crews switched to a defensive approach as the fire conditions evolved, and they applied water through ventilation points from the exterior of the RV.

Once the fire was under control, OFR crews searched the interior of the RV. Firefighters doused and disconnected all batteries, including lithium batteries that were neutralized with a foaming agent, and the solar panels were also disconnected above the unit.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Ocala Fire Rescue.
Marion County Fire Rescue’s Medic 20 unit also responded.
