A 65-year-old woman was killed on Tuesday after her golf cart crashed into a pickup truck in the Indigo East subdivision in Ocala.

At around 11:50 a.m., the woman was traveling eastbound in a golf cart on SW 87th Loop, near the intersection of SW 79th Terrace Road. A 39-year-old man was also heading southbound in a pickup truck on SW 79th Terrace Road, near the same intersection, and the vehicle was towing an enclosed trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that the golf cart proceeded to travel through the stop sign at the intersection and directly into the path of the pickup truck. Moments later, the left front section of the golf cart crashed into the right side of the truck.

After the initial impact, the golf cart’s driver was ejected from the vehicle and onto the roadway, and she was then struck by the pickup truck’s trailer. She was transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck was not injured in the crash.

The names of the drivers involved in the fatal accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
