Alexander Springs swimming area temporarily closed

A popular swimming area within the Ocala National Forest was closed on Sunday evening, several days after another closure in the same area.

Alexander Springs swimming area was temporarily closed on Sunday, Nov. 5, according to a statement issued by Naventure.

The closure comes just a few days after the area was temporarily closed on Wednesday. That closure lasted a couple of hours, according to the U.S. National Forest Service.

“We apologize for any impacts this adjustment has on your recreation plans,” reads a statement from Naventure, which formerly operated as Adventure Ocala, LLC.

Last month, a portion of Fern Hammock Springs was closed to visitors due to “hydrological conditions eroding an area of the trail.”

In July, the Alexander Springs swim area was temporarily closed after a snorkeler was attacked by an alligator.
