Two arrested by Ocala police for murder of 21-year-old man

Two men were arrested by Ocala police over the weekend in connection with a shooting incident that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man.

At around 11:20 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, Ocala Police Department officers responded to the 2200 block of SW 2nd Street in Ocala in reference to shots being fired. When officers arrived on scene, they located a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, according to OPD.

The victim, identified as Patrick Stanley, Jr., was rushed to a local hospital. Later that evening, he succumbed to his fatal injuries.

According to OPD, detectives launched an investigation and uncovered evidence showing that two men who were in separate vehicles – a blue Toyota Camry and gray Hyundai Elantra – were involved in the shooting.

After reviewing video footage and interviewing witnesses, detectives identified the driver of the Toyota as 20-year-old Jaden Burton, and the Hyundai’s driver was identified as 23-year-old Kamrun Oshea Goffe.

Ocala police were able to locate both Burton and Goffe. Through further investigation, detectives learned that the suspects were allegedly a part of a “prearranged drug deal of marijuana” at the incident location, and it was during this drug deal that the victim was shot, according to OPD.

“Our hearts go out to the loved ones of Mr. Stanley Jr. during this difficult time,” stated OPD on its Facebook page.

Goffe was placed under arrest and transported to Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond. He is being charged with premeditated first-degree murder, engaging in a criminal offense with a firearm, and possession of marijuana (over 20 grams).

Burton was also arrested and taken to Marion County Jail, where he is currently being held without bond. He is being charged with premeditated first-degree murder.

At 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, Goffe and Burton are both scheduled to appear in court, according to jail records.
