Overnight lane closures on I-75 in Ocala this week

Motorists traveling on I-75 in Ocala this week should expect overnight lane closures from CR 484 to SR 200 as crews resurface and add guardrails to the highway, among other improvements.

The Florida Department of Transportation is advising motorists of overnight lane closures along Interstate 75, from the Sumter County line to State Road 200. The lane closures began on Sunday, April 21, and will continue through Friday, April 26, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Closures will impact both northbound and southbound lanes. Crews will be milling, paving, making median grade improvements, and installing guardrails.

“Please reduce your speed, alertly merge into an open lane and cautiously bypass the construction zone,” reads a statement from FDOT.

The overall purpose of the project (443170-1) is to resurface I-75, reconstruct the existing median crossovers, and update/add guardrails where necessary. Crews will also perform minor drainage work.

Construction on the project began last year and is expected to be complete this fall, according to FDOT.
