Firefighters were dispatched to a southwest Ocala neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon after a passing motorist saw smoke rising from a home.
At around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, multiple Ocala Fire Rescue units responded to a home located in the 300 block of SW Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they observed smoke rising from the eaves of a single-story residence.
Two Ocala Fire Rescue units quickly entered the residence to attack the flames, and a third unit searched the interior for any occupants. OFR stated that a primary and secondary search revealed that the home was unoccupied.
Firefighters used a “large-diameter hose” to combat the flames, and the fire was soon under control.
There were no injuries reported.
OFR’s Deputy Chief, the Fire Prevention Division, the Ocala Police Department, and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded to the residence on Tuesday afternoon.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the house fire, according to Ocala Fire Rescue.
