Marion County firefighters rushed to a Silver Springs Shores neighborhood early Wednesday morning after receiving reports that a porch and garage were on fire.

At around 3:05 a.m., multiple Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a residence located on Juniper Pass Way in Ocala. When the firefighters arrived on scene, they observed flames and heavy smoke.

When MCFR crews arrived on scene, they initially launched an offensive attack on the flames.

However, MCFR’s strategy soon switched to a defensive one due to fire conditions and the sound of ammunition “going off” inside the home. While using a “defensive posture,” firefighters continued to attack the flames, eventually extinguishing the fire.

MCFR stated that the fire was called under control shortly after 3:40 a.m. An interior search revealed that the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

There were no injuries reported to civilians or firefighters.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause and origin of the blaze, according to MCFR.
