Ocala country singer headlining city’s patriotic drone show

A popular country singer in Ocala will headline the city’s first “Patriotic Skies” event this July 4, which will feature a drone show by a company that just made it to the next round of “America’s Got Talent” on NBC.

On Friday, city officials announced that Noah Hunton will perform at this year’s Patriotic Skies, which takes place on July 4. Hunton will perform from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the event.

Billed as “A Fourth of July Drone Experience,” the event’s focal point is a 300-drone display that should light up the skies over Ocala’s Tuscawilla Park (829 NE Sanchez Avenue).

Last month, city officials approved the appropriation of a $20,000 tourism grant from the Marion County Tourist Development Council for the show

In February, Ocala City Council members unanimously approved a one-year agreement with Sky Elements, LLC to produce the drone show. The contract includes the option for two separate one-year renewals.

This year’s drone show will mark the first of its kind for the city, which has not traditionally held events on July 4.

In addition to the drone show and live music from Hunton and others, Patriotic Skies will feature food trucks, a kids’ zone, and demonstrations honoring veterans.

Over 10,000 visitors are expected to watch the event, according to city estimates.

Sky Elements has successfully conducted hundreds of drone light shows across the country over the past several years.

In the months since gaining approval for the new contract, Sky Elements has gone on to appear on America’s Got Talent, an NBC talent show. The company’s displays earned it a “Golden Buzzer” into the second round of the competition.
