A 27-year-old man was indicted earlier this month by a grand jury on a first-degree murder charge in connection with the 2024 shooting death of a woman in northwest Ocala.
Back on June 29, 2024, at around 10:35 p.m., Ocala Police Department officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of NW 20th Avenue in reference to shots being fired in the area, according to OPD.
When officers arrived on scene, they found a woman who was deceased. She was later identified by Ocala police as 31-year-old Faye Porter.
A homicide investigation was launched, and OPD stated on social media early the following morning that the incident appeared to be isolated.
OPD detectives worked on the case for months, which led to them identifying Stephon Akeem Bagley as the suspected shooter in this case.
On Thursday, August 7, 2025, Bagley was indicted by grand jurors for the murder of Porter. He is facing a slew of charges that include first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, fleeing to elude a law enforcement officer, possession of a machine gun, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while license is revoked as a habitual offender.
Marion County Court records show that Bagley made his first appearance in court on Friday, August 8, 2025. Less than a week later, he entered a written plea of “not guilty.”
Bagley remains in custody at Marion County Jail. He is being represented by a public defender, according to court records.
An arraignment hearing for Bagley is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
