I’ve longed to move back to Ocala since I left 12 years ago, but it doesn’t sound the same

To the Editor:

I moved away from Ocala in 2013 and have longed to be back for most of the 12 years I’ve been away.

I follow the news online daily and I truly grieve for what Ocala and Marion County once were.

I read about the indecent building of apartment complexes and “communities” and wonder if there is any of the old charm left?

I lived there for 25 years before leaving and never saw so much expansion and destruction. My heart breaks for it’s residents and the people who will never experience the Marion County that I loved so much.
