In loving memory of William E. “Gene” Dow, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 72. He was born and raised in Hialeah, Florida.

Gene was a skilled plumber, who spent many years serving his community with distinction. He was a proud member of Plumbers Local Union 519 in Miami, where he formed lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues for his hard work and integrity.

Beyond his professional life, Gene had a deep love for baseball, a passion he enjoyed as a player in his younger years. He was known for pitching no hitters for the T-breds at Hialeah High School. As an outstanding pitcher, he even had a tryout with the Kansas City Royals. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and he relished sharing this interest with his family and friends. He also loved to fish and play golf.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, William E. Dow Sr. and Josephine Dow, a brother, Dan Cahill and sister, Florence Luten, whose memories he cherished throughout his life.

He is survived by his soulmate and loving wife, Sandy Dow. Married in 1990, they were blessed with 36 wonderful years together. Sandy stood by his side through all of life’s joys and challenges. His legacy lives on in his two devoted daughters, Jeannine Orr and Kelly Swift, along with his cherished grandchildren, Blake Orr and Zoie Orr, who brought immense pride and joy into his life. Gene is also survived by his sister, Joanne Legg, who remained a steadfast presence in his heart.

Though he has left this world, the warmth of Gene’s spirit and the strength of his character will continue to inspire all who knew him. He was a hard-working and kind-hearted man. His memory will be held dear by his family and friends, who will forever treasure the times shared and the love he so freely gave. He will be dearly missed.

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” Revelation 21:4
