Howard Jack Shepherd Jr., died at 78 on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 1:00am at his home in Ocala, Florida.
Jack was born to his late parents, Howard Jack Shepherd Sr. and Mary Elizabeth “Jenkins” Shepherd on August 18, 1947 in Corning, Arkansas. He was united in marriage to Dora Liliana “Ruiz” Shepherd, who survives. He is also survived by his 5 children, Jacqueline Jones and her husband Joseph Jones, Chad Holifield and his wife Stephanie Holifield, Justin Shepherd and his wife, Jessica Shepherd, Cody Shepherd and Kayla McClain and her husband James O. McClain Jr., his grandchildren – Jacqueline’s kids, Hannah Headlee, Hayden Headlee, Chloe Jones and Samuel Jones. Chad’s son, Tyler Holifield. Justin’s kids, Leilani Jones and Mia Shepherd. Kayla’s kids, Zander McClain and Addison McClain. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sibling, Kay “Baker” Shepherd.
Jack treasured his family and his grandchildren. His love for horses and westerns still continue on even in death. He was well known by all who loved him as a man who was always there, steady, generous and present for anyone who needed him, no matter what time or how far. He could fix anything and was a true jack of all trades. He always spoke his mind, set you straight or made you laugh. He would talk your ear off with his adventures and stories about his life.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 5 p.m. at Roberts of Ocala Funerals & Cremations West Chapel at 6241 SW Hwy 200, Ocala, Florida.
He was a great father, husband and grandfather with a big heart that loved everyone. He will be deeply missed and loved by so many people.
