Walter William Nowakowski, known to many simply as Walt, passed away on July 11, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 74. Walt was born on November 17, 1951, in Buffalo, New York.
Walt was a reserved and private man, yet he formed lasting bonds with those around him. He had a pleasant sense of humor and a way of speaking that could bring a smile without ever needing to say much. His calm demeanor and kind spirit made him someone others could trust and count on. He leaves behind many dear friends who miss him deeply and will long remember the warmth of his friendship.
A devoted husband, Walt is survived by his wife, Barbara, who shared many years of life, love, and companionship with him. He is also survived by his brothers, Daniel Nowakowski and Mark Nowakowski and his wife Toni, as well as his sister, Cynthia Nagowski, and her husband Victor. Walt also leaves behind six stepchildren, Robert Kuhnel and his wife Sharon, Kellie Brill and her husband Harold, Lisa Kuhnel, Benjamin Anible and his wife Gemma, Katia Anible,, and Marie Anible. He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, each of whom brought him joy and added meaning to his life.
Walt was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Brian Enright, as well as his parents, Raymond C. and Alice Nowakowski.
One of Walt’s greatest passions was riding his Harley. He was a 40-year member of HOG, and the open road brought him a sense of freedom and enjoyment that stayed with him for decades. His love of motorcycles was more than a hobby. It was a lifelong interest that reflected his appreciation for independence, adventure, and the camaraderie of fellow riders. Whether traveling near or far, he found happiness in the rhythm of the ride and the friendships built along the way.
