Marion County firefighters responded to Interstate 75 on Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer became engulfed in flames.
At approximately 11:24 a.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the Northbound Weigh Station on I-75 in reference to a tractor-trailer that was on fire. The Florida Highway Patrol was already on scene and reported that the vehicle’s cabin was “fully involved in flames.”
The first of seven MCFR units arrived on scene at 11:36 a.m., and crew members deployed hose lines to attack the flames that were covering the tractor-trailer’s cabin.
Several additional MCFR suppression units arrived on scene and established water supply while providing manpower to combat the fire.
The fire was called under control by 11:46 a.m., and the firefighters remained on scene for extensive mop up operations.
According to MCFR, one patient was evaluated by paramedics and refused to be transported to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
