The cause of a vehicle fire in northwest Ocala that left no injuries is being investigated by local authorities.

On Tuesday, October 14, Ocala Fire Rescue units responded to reports of a vehicle fire near the intersection of NW 35th Avenue road and NW Blitchton at around 2:08 p.m.

Upon arrival, OFR crews found a sport utility vehicle engulfed in flames in front of the Burger King on NW Blitchton Road.

Initial reports from OFR suggest that the fire caused the SUV’s fuel tank to rupture, resulting in a secondary fire and leaking fuel.

Marion County Fire Rescue crews arrived on the scene a short time later and, together with OFR, firefighters established a water supply, deployed multiple lines, and combatted the fire.

According to OFR, a specialized firefighting foam was used to get the fire under control.

The driver of the SUV was able to safely exit the vehicle and there were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to OFR.
