Ocala woman arrested after witness tapes violent altercation on his cell phone

Asia Mobley

Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested an Ocala woman Wednesday after watching a video of a physical altercation that was taped by a witness.

When deputies arrived at the home in the 4400 block of 22nd Avenue, the woman told them she was walking with her children when she made a statement to 24-year-old Asia Mobley about how she treats her children. She said Mobley then started attacking her, a sheriff’s office report states.

Mobley told deputies that she was taking her trash out when the woman started a verbal confrontation, swung a walking stick at her and then started hitting her, the report says.

But two witnesses told deputies a different story. One said she saw the woman walking down NW 22nd Avenue when Mobley approached her and started hitting her. The other said he was in his car when the incident broke out and showed deputies a video of the altercation.

The report notes that deputies watched the video and saw Mobley approach the woman and hit her with her fist. It also says that the woman fell to the ground and Mobley continued to “hit her with her fist, as well as kicking her.”

Mobley was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail. She was charged with battery and released Wednesday night on $1,000 bond.
