Marion County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a shooting at a Silver Springs Shores barber shop that took place early Friday afternoon.
At about 1 p.m., deputies responded to Transitions Barber Shop and Beauty Salon, located at 9419 SE Maricamp Road, in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies were told that a man walked into the barber shop while a customer was getting a haircut. The man and the customer knew each other and got into an argument.
Witnesses told deputies that during the argument, one person punched the other, resulting in a gun being drawn and shots fired. The person who fired the shots and the victim both fled the location, a sheriff’s office report states.
The shooting victim was later found at a nearby home after he called 911 for medical assistance. He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, the report says.
Detectives currently are in contact with the victim but the shooter is still at large. No arrests have been made and the investigation is on-going, the report says.
