Florida’s senators split on vote for U.S. Supreme Court nominee

Florida’s two United States senators split on Saturday’s vote on the confirmation of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The final Senate vote was 50-48 margin in favor of confirming Kavanaugh to the highest court.

Republican Marco Rubio voted for the nominee. Democrat Bill Nelson voted against Kavanaugh.

Two non-votes knocked each other out.

Steve Daines of Montana was not present at the vote because he was attending his daughter’s wedding. Republican Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted “present.”

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia was the lone Democrat to vote in favor of Kavanaugh.
