An Ocala woman will have to answer in court after an alleged shirt theft at Belk in The Villages.
Judith Castillo, 47, entered the store at La Plaza Grande North shortly after 7 p.m. Nov. 9 and was recognized by the store’s loss prevention officer as a person of interest caught on video in a previous theft, according to an arrest report fro the Lady Lake Police Department.
The native of Cuba selected some men’s collared shirts and took them into a fitting room. When she re-emerged from the fitting room, she did not have the merchandise. A check of the fitting room revealed that the shirts were gone.
A police officer stopped Castillo, who was accompanied by her husband, outside the store and asked to search her purse. The search turned up the collared shirts, valued at $109.50.
She was issued a notice to appear Nov. 27 in Lake County Court to answer to a charge of petit theft.
She was also ordered to stay out of Belk.
