William Louis Lenier, Sr.

William Louis Leiner, Sr., age 95, Ocala, Florida, formerly of Inverness, Florida passed away November 14, 2018 at the Legacy Hospice House in Ocala, FL. Mr. Leiner was born in Allentown, PA on January 22, 1923 to the late Louis and Bertha (Wilfinger) Leiner and came to Florida in 2013 from Coplay, Pennsylvania.

A proud veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during WW II as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate, enlisted in 1940 and discharged in 1946. He served in the Asiatic – Pacific Theater and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. Bill was a member of the Citrus Fleet Reserve Branch No. 186 where he was honored as a Pearl Harbor survivor on several occasions. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corporation as a Grade A Machinest with 30 years of service before moving to Florida and enjoyed various sports, especially Penn State Football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Left to cherish his memory are three children, John W. Leiner and his wife Tammy of Ocala, FL; William L. Leiner, Jr. and wife Cindy of Coplay, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Phylis Engleman and husband Jeff of Coplay, Pennsylvania. There are 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. (Mitzi) Leiner on February 14, 2013. They were married for 63 years.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Monday, November 19, 2018 1:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Beaverson of the First Lutheran Church of Inverness officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
