Ocala Police officers blanket high school campus after note threatens harm

Ocala Police officers made their presence known Thursday at West Port High School in Ocala.

A note left at West Port High School last week made threats about violence taking place on the school’s campus Thursday.

That’s because on Feb. 11, the department was made aware of a threatening note that was left on the school’s campus, located at 3733 SW 80th Ave. The note indicated harm was going to take place Thursday but didn’t specifically identify a target, an Ocala Police report says.

An investigation into the threat could not identify a suspect. But extra security measures, including extra officers on campus, were put into place to watch over students throughout the school day.

Anyone with any information about the note or the threat is being asked to contact the Ocala Police Department at (352) 369-7000.
