Ocala man charged with first degree murder of 62-year-old found dead in tent

Ocala Police officers arrested a man Monday who they believe was involved in a murder in January.

Roland Henry Lanctot and La’Mathis Hamilton

La’Mathis Hamilton, 27, was taken into custody in connection with the Jan. 17 homicide of 62-year-old Roland Henry Lanctot, who was found dead inside a tent on his property in the 3300 block of NW Blitchton Road.

Ocala Police Major Crimes detectives believe that several people – Hamilton included – “played a significant role” in Lanctot’s death, a report states, adding that the names of other possible suspects are being withheld because the case remains under investigation.

Hamilton was booked into the Marion County Jail early Monday morning and charged with first degree murder. He is being held with no bond and is due in court April 16 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
