Wild-driving Wildwood man jailed in Marion County on multiple drug charges

Rogelio Hernandez Ramirez

A Wildwood man was arrested on drug charges early Sunday morning after being stopped for driving erratically on SW State Road 200 in Ocala.

Rogelio Hernandez Ramirez, 24, of 610 Stanley Ave., was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of more than 20 grams of THC oil, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving without a valid license.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a white van driving on and off the road and onto sidewalks in the area of the 8800 block of SW State Road 200. They observed the vehicle run through a solid red light and weave in and out of traffic lanes before they initiated a traffic stop in the 9700 block, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Ramirez was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle. Deputies observed Ramirez had glassy eyes and they smelled a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Ramirez said he didn’t speak any English and provided a Mexican identification card. A records check showed he doesn’t have a valid driver’s license, and he was arrested on that charge, the report said.

Deputies then searched Ramirez and located a white box in his front left pants pocket. The box was labeled “OG Kush,” a strain of marijuana, and contained a vape pen filled with a brown oil substance that field tested positive for THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, according to the report.

Inside Ramirez’s wallet were three small pink plastic bags. Two contained a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine, while the other contained a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, the report said.

Ramirez was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he’s being held on $7,500 bond. A court date hasn’t yet been set.
