Weirsdale man arrested after woman shows bruises on her buttocks

Donald Wesley Boorum

A 62-year-old Weirsdale man was charged with domestic battery for allegedly punching a woman in the buttocks while they were drinking.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy on Saturday that she and Donald Wesley Boorum, of South Hwy. 25, were drinking and got into a verbal argument. She said Boorum walked over to her and punched her on the left side of the buttocks. The deputy observed the victim appeared highly intoxicated, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim then showed the deputy the area where she said she was struck. There were no signs of marks, redness or other injuries. The deputy was unable to locate Boorum, and he was unable to establish probable cause for an arrest, the report said.

The deputy returned to the residence on Sunday to speak to Boorum, who said he never struck the victim in any manner. At that time, the victim said she had bruises on her buttocks and showed them to the deputy, who observed three fist-sized bruises, according to the report.

Boorum, who was previously charged with domestic battery in 2014, was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. He’s being held on $1,000 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on July 18.
