McIntosh man arrested after woman claims she was choked and forced to perform sex act

Charles Wayne Hendrix

A McIntosh man is behind bars after a woman claims he choked her and then forced her to perform oral sex on him.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies on Oct. 19 were called to the Dollar General store at 19998 N U.S. Hwy. 441 in McIntosh, where they met with a woman who claimed to be the victim of a sexual battery. The woman was transported to the sheriff’s office, where she spoke with a sergeant in the domestic violence unit.

The woman said 38-year-old Charles Wayne Hendrix had picked her up at work and they had gone to visit someone whose name was redacted from a sheriff’s office report. She said Hendrix was supposed to drive her back to the Dollar General but drove past the store and turned onto a side road, the report says.

The woman claimed Hendrix wanted “sexual favors” from her. She said she declined and started to walk away from the vehicle, but Hendrix came up behind her and placed her in a chokehold. She said she collapsed to the ground and was unable to get away, the report says.

The woman said Hendrix then opened his pants and forced her to perform oral sex. She said she attempted to bite him and he “threatened to cut her throat” if she did it again, the report says.

The woman said she was allowed to walk away after completing the sex act, but she was afraid Hendrix would try to run her over. She said she walked to the Dollar General store and called out to an employee for help before collapsing in the store. She said the employee called 911 and deputies responded a short time later.

The following day, detectives met with Hendrix at the sheriff’s office. He admitted to the car ride and the sex act but stated “everything between him and the victim was consensual.” He provided written consent and DNA saliva standards were collected, the report says.

This past Thursday, detectives reviewed the video surveillance footage from the Dollar General that confirmed the woman’s account of entering the store, calling out for help and then collapsing. Detective also spoke with the employee who called 911 and confirmed that the woman’s makeup was running down her face, which appeared red. The employee said the woman was “all dirty and wet” when she entered the store. And the woman’s cell phone was recovered after reportedly being found by Hendrix and returned through another family member, the report says.

Detectives then located Hendrix at 5350 NW 125th Street Rd. and took him into custody. He continued to deny the allegations and said the woman’s phone had been returned, the report says.

Hendrix was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with sexual assault and domestic battery by strangulation. He is being held on $10,000 bond and is due in court on Nov. 26 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.
