51-year-old Ocala man identified as fourth fatality in fiery Alachua County crash

An Ocala man has been identified as one of four people who died as a result of a fiery Nov. 16 crash in Alachua County.

Michael Ronald Russell, 51, was identified by dental records. The Ocala resident had been traveling west on State Road 24 in a 2019 Hyundai Elantra when he collided head-on with a 2007 Toyota RAV4 driven by 30-year-old Christopher M. Hesling, of St. Marys, Ga., according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

Hesling and one of his passengers, 31-year-old Brittany Trowell Hesling, were killed in the crash. Four-year-old Jack Hesling died the following day at UF Health Shands Hospital. A third passenger, Maggie Hesling, received minor injuries and also was transported to Shands. Her age wasn’t available on the FHP report.
