Casino Night fundraiser to benefit charity aimed at reducing suicides among veterans

A nonprofit organization that strives to reduce the suicide rate among veterans is preparing to host a special fundraising event.

Titled “Casino Night Powered by Duke Energy,” the event will benefit the nonprofit charity Less Than 22. It will be held Saturday, Feb. 22 at The Brick City Center for the Arts, located at 23 W Broadway St. Doors open at 6 a.m. and ticket options include:

  • $122 – Two tickets, including poker buy-in;
  • $65 – One ticket, including poker buy-in;
  • $35 – One general admission ticket

The poker tournament will offer a variety of prizes, including a private, offshore fishing trip. Several sponsorships levels also are available for those who want to play a larger role in the fundraiser. To purchase tickets, click HERE. For ticket or sponsorship information, send an email to titoviv@bellsouth.net.

Less Than 22 was established in 2019 by Florida Army veteran Capt. Luis Molina. He noticed that being out on the water provided inner peace and solace for him and other veterans. Those positive experiences gave him the vision to do more for veterans in need of “One Good Day,” which led to the formation of Less Than 22.

The money raised at the upcoming fundraiser will help pay for life-altering excursions with trained guides and professionals. Those may include trips such as inshore and offshore fishing expeditions, scalloping and manatee tours and horseback riding. Mental health assistance and holistic services such as yoga, meditation, dance and stained-glass work also is available for veterans in need.
