In light of the city announcing that it will soon make changes to its recycling collection policies, several residents have written letters to share opinions. Here are a few of those letters:
“Just so you know, everything now will go in the garbage can, rather than being separated. I am not driving to a dump place to save you a dime.” – Weyman Steed, Ocala
“The ceasing of recycle pickup will only contribute to the increasing deterioration of the cleanliness of Ocala. We will now find recycled garbage on the streets or illegally dumped. My suggestion is to pick up every two weeks and put out notices of exactly what is recyclable. Glass and styrofoam have already been eliminated. I would like to know why.”– Marge Iovine, Ocala
“Thank you so much for information re. Recycling Drop off sites available beginning July 6,2026. I live outside the Ocala city limits so have NOT qualified for home pickups of recycled materials. Finally those of us outside city limits have an option, thank you!” – Denise St. Germain, Ocala
