Busy Ocala intersection to be closed for drainage improvement project

A busy Ocala intersection will be closed soon for construction related to the city’s Drainage Rehabilitation Improvement Program.

The intersection of NE Ninth Street and NE Sanchez will be shut down beginning Thursday, Jan. 23. Construction is expected to be completed that same day on the project that’s designed to reduce flooding throughout the area.

All necessary devices will be in place to redirect traffic. Construction will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. During construction times, travelers may experience delays, noise, dust and heavy equipment within the project area.

Traffic heading north bound on NE Sanchez Avenue will be detoured onto NE Ninth Street to NE Eighth Avenue. For more information, contact the City Engineer’s Office, Capital Projects Division at (352) 629-8419.
