A 43-year-old Ocala woman was killed Sunday night while attempting to cross State Road 200.
Wendy Cauchi was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue after she was hit by a 2018 Ford Edge driven by 82-year-old Gaylord Rowe, also of Ocala. The incident happened on SR 200 near SW 69th Court at about 9:30 p.m. as Cauchi attempted to cross the roadway from the north shoulder, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.
Rowe wasn’t injured in the crash. Charges are pending and it hasn’t been determined if alcohol played a factor, the FHP report says.
