Belleview man jailed after raising ruckus at Vin Mar Motel

Richard Jason Alire

A Belleview man will spend some time in the Marion County Jail after he reportedly resisted a deputy who stopped him from going after a fellow patron at the Vin Mar Motel.

Richard Jason Alire, 50, who lives at the motel, located at 5018 SE Abshier Blvd., was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer without violence after the incident, which happened around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the incident location and saw Alire trying to entice a male patron at the motel into fighting him. Alire was repeatedly telling the man he would fight him and was creating a disturbance in the parking lot, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy called out to gain Alire’s attention and get him to disengage from the man, but he didn’t respond. The deputy pulled on Alire’s right bicep and tried to lead him away, but he actively pulled away from the deputy and walked towards the patron, the report said.

The deputy grabbed Alire a second time and ordered him to follow him away from the patron, but Alire pulled away again and took a fighting stance facing the patron. At that point, Alire was placed in handcuffs and put in the back of a patrol car, according to the report.

While on the way to jail, Alire started making suicidal statements. He was placed under a Baker Act and taken to The Centers mental health facility for evaluation. He was transferred to jail later Wednesday and will be there until Sept. 17.
