An Ocala man was arrested after meth was found in his truck during a traffic stop Tuesday night.
Jason Daniel Pilcher, 36, of 526 NW 57th Ave., was charged with possession of methamphetamine, driving with a suspended license (third or subsequent offense), and failure to register a motor vehicle.
Shortly after 10 p.m., a Marion County sheriff’s deputy observed a white Dodge pickup truck pulling a homemade trailer that didn’t have any lights on it. While the deputy was trailing the truck, it crossed the center line, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop along the 12300 SE 36th Avenue and spoke with the driver, Pilcher, who appeared upset. Pilcher told the deputy his license was suspended. A records check showed two suspensions in February and March of this year, as well as prior forcible felony convictions, the report said.
Pilcher’s truck was searched prior to being towed, and the deputy found a folded piece of tin foil containing clear crystal-like substance in the ash tray to the right of the steering wheel. The substance tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.
Pilcher was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was being held Friday on $3,000 bond. He will appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 6.
