An Ocala woman whose driver’s license is suspended as a habitual traffic offender was arrested after being caught behind the wheel again.

Marsha Dawana Stewart, 26, of 1711 NE 2nd Street, was charged with driving with a suspended license (third or subsequent offense).

At around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, a Marion County sheriff’s deputy was in the parking lot of the Zaxby’s restaurant, 2193 E. Silver Springs Blvd., and observed a white Honda enter the lot from NE 22nd Avenue. The deputy conducted a records check for the license tag and found that the registered owner had a suspended license as a habitual traffic offender, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Stewart, who matched the description of the registered owner, got out of the vehicle and started walking towards the restaurant. When questioned by the deputy, she originally denied being the owner of the vehicle. By checking photo records, the deputy determined Stewart is the owner of the vehicle and confirmed her license was suspended as a habitual offender in December 2019, the report said.

Stewart, who has prior convictions for driving with a suspended license in April 2016 and September 2019, was taken to the Marion County Jail. She was released Thursday on $2,000 bond.
