A Fort McCoy man was arrested after he allegedly pushed a lady friend and caused her to trip over a stool during an argument on Saturday night.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she Charles Scarbrough-Wimmer had gone out earlier in the day and when they returned to her residence, she noticed some items missing and they got into an argument. She said she told Scarbrough-Wimmer to leave and he did, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said Scarbrough-Wimmer returned multiple times throughout the evening and she told him to leave every time. She said he came back around 11:15 p.m. and she told him to leave and grabbed a hammer, box cutter knife and a stick that Scarbrough-Wimmer brought with him and held them behind her back so he couldn’t get them, the report said.
The victim said Scarbrough-Wimmer was able to get the items from her but couldn’t explain how. She said he grabbed her by both arms and pushed her, causing her to trip on a stool and fall to the ground. She said he then left the residence, according to the report.
The deputy looked at the victim’s arms and could see a red mark on the inside of her left forearm that looked like it was starting to swell. She said she didn’t need medial attention. The deputy also observed the stool the victim said she tripped over lying on its side where she fell, the report said.
Contacted at his home on Sunday, Scarbrough-Wimmer told the deputy nothing happened the previous day. He said he was over the victim’s house and she was mad and wanted her key back, but he didn’t have it with him. He said he was coming back from returning the key, according to the report.
Based on the victim’s statement and the injury to the inside of her left forearm, Scarbrough-Wimmer was charged with simple domestic battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was being held Tuesday on $2,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on March 3.
