13 escape injury when SUV rams into back of stopped Marion County school bus

Thirteen people escaped injury Wednesday morning when a SUV rear-ended a school bus in Marion County.

The bus was traveling south on County Road 336 at 8:26 a.m. in front of the SUV when it stopped north of County Road 40 to pick up a student. The SUV was unable to stop in time and slammed into rear portion of the bus, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

The 37-year-old female driver of the SUV and her 7-year-old male passenger, both of Dunnellon, were wearing their seat belts and weren’t injured. The 64-year-old female bus driver, of Inglis, also was wearing her seat and wasn’t hurt.

All of the students onboard the bus were teenagers from Inglis and Dunnellon and none were injured. A second bus came to the scene of the crash and transported them to school.
