District Bar & Kitchen, a new downtown Ocala restaurant, is hoping to replace Pi on Broadway when it closes.
That’s what city records show from the May 18 meeting of the Ocala Community Redevelopment Area Agency Board. The restaurant applied for a grant from the board to help with the estimated $1 million price tag of the project.
Located at 110 SW Broadway Street, Pi on Broadway announced earlier this year that they would be shutting down after a multi-year run that saw the bar become one of the premiere live music spots in downtown Ocala.
The District Bar & Kitchen will be a “full service, elevated sports bar/food concept, with live music and entertainment after dinner services,” read the grant application filed with the city of Ocala.
The business believes it will create over two dozen service-industry related jobs. When construction begins, the estimated completion timetable is around six months.
Although it had originally hoped to begin construction this month, the matter was tabled at the meeting and has not yet been rescheduled.
