A 74-year-old woman was killed in an accident earlier today that kept emergency personnel and traffic tied up for the morning.
The accident happened at 8:10 a.m. while two vehicles were northbound on I-75, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
A 74-year-old woman was traveling in a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox in the center lane. A 77-year-old male driving a 2018 Lincoln MKX was traveling in the right lane.
The woman attempted to exit the Interstate at Williston Road from the center lane in the path of the Lincoln and was unable to stop before the front of the vehicle struck the right side of her Equinox.
The woman was pronounced deceased after being transported from the scene.
The name of the woman, who was from Palm Harbor, has not been released as part of Florida Highway Patrol policy.
