Silver Springs man killed in head-on collision on CR 314

A 53-year-old Silver Springs man was killed on Tuesday afternoon after his vehicle crashed head-on with another vehicle on County Road 314.

The accident took place around 1:00 p.m. on September 28, near the intersection of County Road 314 and NE 47th Avenue Road.

According to the FHP report, the man, who was driving a sedan, and a tractor/trailer being driven by a 60-year-old Lady Lake man were approaching a slight curve in the roadway from opposite directions.

For unknown reasons, the sedan failed to maintain a single lane and crossed the double yellow center line. The sedan, which was moving northbound, traveled into the southbound lane of CR 314 and struck the tractor/trailer head-on.

As a result of the collision, the tractor/trailer was sent off the roadway and collided with a tree prior to coming to its final rest. The sedan was observed at final rest facing east on the east grass shoulder of CR 314.

The Silver Springs man was killed as a result of the accident, and the Lady Lake man received minor injuries.

The names of the individuals were not released as part of Florida Highway Patrol Policy.
