A 56-year-old Ocala man has died from injuries he sustained during a three-vehicle accident on State Road 200.
According to an update from the Ocala Police Department, Munir Shrouf has passed away from injuries he suffered in the crash, which saw multiple others transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
On Tuesday, just before 7 p.m., a red Hyundai SUV being driven by Shrouf, left the Red Lobster parking lot located in the 3300 block of SR 200.
Shrouf’s 53-year-old wife was riding in the front passenger seat and his 28-year-old daughter was in the back seat.
According to OPD, Shrouf’s vehicle was crossing the thoroughfare to make a left turn and was struck by a silver Scion traveling westbound.
The Scion T-boned the driver’s side of the SUV, which resulted in the Scion rotating counter-clockwise and into the path of a silver Honda.
The Honda rear-ended the Scion, causing the Honda to also rotate.
Shrouf’s vehicle traveled westbound on SR 200 and struck a concrete light pole on the northwest corner of SW 34th Avenue. The other two vehicles came to rest facing east in the westbound lanes of SR 200, at the intersection of SW 34th Avenue.
As a result of the crash, five people were transported to the hospital, including Shrouf and two others that had to be trauma alerted.
According to police, the other victims are currently in stable condition.
The 30-year-old driver of the Scion and 52-year-old driver of the Honda were both the sole occupants of their respective vehicles. Their identities were not specified by law enforcement.
The crash is still under investigation, according to the Ocala Police Department.
