City of Belleview cancels Christmas Parade due to staff shortage, safety

The City of Belleview will not be holding its Christmas Parade this year.

Due to circumstances beyond the city’s control, the 2021 Belleview Christmas Parade has been cancelled, according to an announcement made through the city’s social media channels.

The cancellation comes after a shortage of parade staff and volunteers. The city also reports safety issues as a result of ongoing construction on U.S. Highway 441.

The parade had been scheduled for December 12 after city officials voted earlier this month to move forward with festivities.

A local parade organizer has been arranged to assist the city with preparations and volunteers in the upcoming years. The Friends of the Ocala Christmas Parade will begin planning for the 2022 parade in January.

That group will host its regular Ocala Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 11.

Light Up Lake Lillian will still be held as scheduled on Saturday, December 4 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Light Up Ocala will be held on November 20 in downtown Ocala.
