Leapfrog Group is an independent national organization that assigns safety grades (A, B, C, D, or F) to general hospitals across the country based on more than thirty national performance measures such as: errors, injuries, accidents, infections, and the systems those hospitals have in place to prevent harm to patients.

According to Leapfrog, West Marion Community Hospital has seen recent safety improvements. The hospital was issued a ‘C’ in 2020 for both the spring and fall grades, followed by a ‘B’ in the spring of 2021.

Earlier this year, West Marion Community Hospital began construction on a new 36-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit that will add more than 40,600 square feet of new space dedicated to inpatient rehabilitation services.

Leapfrog also issued ‘B’ grades to AdventHealth Ocala (1500 SW 1st Avenue) and Ocala Regional Medical Center (1431 SW 1st Avenue), which was an improvement over previous evaluations from the organization.

AdventHealth was issued a ‘D’ in the spring of 2019, and improved to a ‘B’ for every grade since the fall of 2019.
