Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies shot and killed a man after he allegedly threatened them with a shotgun.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to the area of NE 140th Avenue and NE 245th Street Road (Orange Springs/Fort McCoy) in reference to a shooting.
Upon arrival at a residence in the area, the deputies located a deceased man.
While investigating the scene, the deputies were met by a man wielding a shotgun. The deputies issued commands for the man to drop his weapon.
After he refused those commands, deputies were forced to open fire, killing him.
The investigation is active and MCSO is fully cooperating with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
The names of the deceased victim and the man shot by deputies have not been released.
